How to prepare for your first kitchen design consultation

It can be daunting starting the kitchen design journey. The mind map overflows with choices from door styles, colours, handles, worktops and many more! But don’t worry, we are here to help you with all that. However, there are a few ways you can quickly become a kitchen designers dream client, even on your first meeting!

1. Plan or photos

Giving a designer a floor plan or layout can immediately help a kitchen designer understand the space they are working with, and any ideas you hope to achieve. If you don’t have plans, photos can be just as useful. You can also email these over before the meeting for extra points!

2. Timescales

Whether its in a few months or over a year, its always helpful to be aware of a clients time frame. We can then work with you to ensure the project stays on track and make the process go as smoothly as possible. 3. Budget

Always an awkward question, but arguably one of the most important. Everyone has a budget, and it can dramatically change a kitchen layout or materials used. If you are unsure, its best to give a price bracket, so that a designer might be able to come up with a few designs that fall into the both ends of the budget, giving you a bit of choice and flexibility.

4. Appliances

Although you don’t have to choose your brand and model (although some clients might already be familiar with what they want)it’s a great way to start to think what you want from them. Is it noise reduction or energy ratings? Perhaps you are an avid baker, and to make your perfect brownies the ovens are important. Or you may be a large family with growing teenagers and need a fridge space to reflect this.
